Sri N. S. Sridhar Murthy

N.S. Sridhar Murthy, who was recognized as talented since childhood, was born on August 24, 1968, in a small village called Gunjiganuru in Chitradurga district. He grew up in Chikkamagaluru district. After completing his primary education in Norway, secondary education and pre-university education in Hariharapura, he graduated from J.C.B.M. College in Sringeri with an 8th rank along with ‘Thee.Nam.Sree. Memorial Gold Medal’. He earned his postgraduate degree in Economics from Mangalore University, receiving a gold medal and a rank. He was awarded the National merit scholarship.

He began his career as a lecturer and later held senior positions in several corporate organizations. He entered journalism through the ‘Mallige’, a monthly magazine and has served as the editor of ‘Mangala’ a weekly magazine, as the editor of the supplement special edition of Vijaya Vani daily newspaper, and as the editor of the ‘Kannada Jagruti’ magazine of the Kannada Development Authority. Currently, he is an Economics professor at the M.P. Birla Institute of Management and also holds the responsibility of being the coordinator of the publishing division of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

For the past three decades, he has been working through various newspapers to preserve cultural journalism. He has conducted in-depth studies on the history of cinema and has also worked in the fields of literature and spirituality. Over 4,000 of his articles have been published in major newspapers of the state, and he has authored 52 works in various genres such as short stories, novels, critiques, and research.

N. S. Sreedhara Murthy has close association with calendar making from the last three decades as a major contributor for The Bangalore press known as time-keepers of Karnataka. He also has studied different kinds of calendars of the world, now he is preparing a research book on that Subject.

Through various channels and radio, he has created several popular programs about film songs. He has also served on the editorial boards of several prominent publications related to Kannada cinema. Having presented papers in more than a hundred national and state-level seminars, he has received several honours, including the R.N.R. Award, Suvarna Karnataka Award, and Aryabhata Award. He was also honoured as the President of the Malenadu Utsava. As the recipient of the first-ever Fellowship from the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, his work titled ’Kannada Chitrageethegala Chaaritrika Adhyayana’ (A Historical Study of Kannada Film Songs) has received recognition as a highly significant contribution to the field.
